Weekday Family Date

April 30, 2014

Yesterday after work, I got home and realized that it would be Danny's only day off this week, so instead of the normal routine of scrambling to karate classes and dinner and back to class and them home to clean and check homework, etc we would change it up a bit.

We loaded up into Danny's new "work car" and went out to dinner at Chuy's.  We each ate really well adn then headed over to Kingwood to Kroger to pick up some candy and then to the ShowBiz Movie Theater to enjoy a movie together as a family!

WHAT - the movies - during the week - as a family - this has literally NEVER happened!!!!

I'm telling you - our lives have had so many changes and so many prayers of mine have been answered in ways that I am just in awe!!

If you know me - then you know I LOVE the movies - my better half however HATES them!!! Getting Danny to the movies is about as easy as getting a (something really difficult done - I can't think of anything right now - but when it comes to me I'll update! LOL).  Either way - you get the point!

He has come full circle in so many ways - I am speechless.  He has become the man I have prayed for and over and above, and beyond what even my wildest prayers could have held.  To say he is trying is an understatement and I couldn't be happier!

There was a time in our lives where I was uncertain of our marriage (who doesn't have those days), but mine were really often and one of my biggest concerns was that as parents and husband and wife we were not setting the examples we should for our girls.  I wanted Danny to be the kinda man Makaila sought for herself.  Someone who would be a leader, a hardworker, a person who loved and respected his partner and showed love and affection without boundaries.  He is that man and so much more. (I need to work on myself) I promise you - there is power in prayer.

Anywho - we headed to the movies to see Heaven is for Real.  It was nice and sentimental to me because of the simple fact that we were going to the movies together as a family (which was a nice surprise), but also because this movie was based on a book that Danny and I read together.  (By that I mean that I read it and started to read it out loud to him and he listened to it and enjoyed it.)  It was the first "Christian" book or thing that Danny and I embraced together as a couple!  He even encouraged Makaila to read it after we did, and this past Easter we bought a copy of the book in Spanish for his mom.

The movie was good - and he may have been being silly and trying to make fun of us - but I thought it was cute.  Danny pulled out napkins from his pockets during the movie to hand to me and Makaila cause of course we were crying! LOL

We went home and showered and got in bed.  Once again - I am updating this blog feeling God's blessings in abundance!! Amidst all the turmoil in the world and the chaos around - God is pouring blessing upon my little family in so many ways and I am oh so grateful.  For our health, our happiness and whatever tomorrow brings.

Hope the rest of your week is great - and if you have some time - go to the movies and enjoy life! (I just realized I have been to the movies twice in one week!! Watch out!!) LOL

New Belt Monday

April 29, 2014

I had a crazy case of the Mondays at work all day!  I had too many meetings and I was dragging!

When I got home on Monday afternoon, we had a slice of left over pizza each and then got dressed and headed to Henderson's while Danny headed out to work!

Makaila was really nervous (she is a real worry wart) about our testing results.  THe higher up in rank you go the harder thigns get so she was really nervous to see what the night held!

By 7pm the ceremony was over.  Isabella received a Purple belt (Recommended- which means next time she tests she will not get a new color belt, but a decided on this belt - or a no change - depending on the level of her advancement!  She really needs to get back into gear and start practicing at home like she used to).  Much to our surprise - Makaila and I both received our Blue belt (Decided).  She and I were pretty stoked!

We took the habitual pictures with Master:

We wrapped up there and then headed straight to Chick-Fil-a to redeem some gift cards they kindly gave to our school for free dinners!!

We came home to eat and I was still feeling really drained.  It must have been something in the air because we all took showers and got ready for bed.  No joke - by 8:30 the three of us were in bed with the lights out (the girls didn't even fight me on it at all - guess they were tired too).

We got some much needed rest to celebrate our new belts!! Heck of a way to celebrate if you ask me!! :)

Weekend Rewind

April 28, 2014

Friday was my 9/80 Friday - so as usual - I woke up early - took the kids to school and then came home to start my errands for the day.  I loaded the car with Scentsy and went to Sammy's job to deliver the orders from last week.  I stayed there for awhile helping her to set up for a company event that they had going on.

Once i left there I headed over to my old stomping grounds and stopped by Tia Helly's for a visit!  I miss her sometimes!!We visited for about an hour then I wen tot the bank, and then met Danny over at Ernie's.  He was there working on his new work car, so we took a break and went to enjoy an nice lunch date together.

Afterwards, I dropped him back off at Ernie's and headed home.  I again stopped at another bank and made some deposits, ordered new checks and then inquired an the Sapphire credit card.  I did some research and decided that it is the best rewards system card available to me these days - so I ordered new ones for Danny and I to start racking up mileage points and cash back bonuses on our spending (free money is always a plus for our household!!).

I went home and started to clean a bit while I watched the weeks worth of Ellen's and cleared some space on the DVR! LOL  I decided I needed to go to Lowe's to get some specific cleaning supplies that I had been wanting - so Danny drove me over then we picked up the girls from school.

At about 5 Margaret came over and we did our monthly layout for scrap booking.  It was nice to visit and relax with Margaret.  She left early and so the kids and I went outside to visit with the neighbors.

At about 9pm, Danny walked through our door with a request to get our shoes on and load up.  He took us over to Bahama Bucks (a new refreshments place that opened up this week by our house).  The lines when we got there were ridiculous, and yet we stayed and waited.  After a LONG 30 minute wait we got our order and it was 100% worth the wait.  The texture of this stuff is phenomenal!!!  I have no doubt that his place will make it as a new business. Our "snowcones" while expensive at $3 & $4 are a bit pricey...were well worth the wait and the cost!

Saturday morning, I woke up and headed out to the neighborhood garage sales.  Sadly I didn't find much and ended up at my friend Vicky's house chit chatting with her.  I ended up buying a few things from her before heading home to get ready.  On my way home I stopped at one last garage sale before getting home, and boy was that a mistake.  It was a sale in which an extreme couponer was selling new in package products at a fraction of the cost that stores do and I ended up spending $75!!!!  Mind you I bought laundry detergents, razors, toothpastes, floss, car fresheners, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, mouthwash, all kinds of great stuff at amazing prices!!!

Finally I got home and showered and got the girls in the showers to get our happy butts to testing.  We were due at the Henderson school by 11:30 to test for our next color belts in Taekwondo!!  Our testing went pretty good, but ran a little late.  By 2:00 we were home and ready to relax.  I let our neighbor Nina know we were ready to watch the kiddos so she could have a date night with her hubby!  Hours went by and no kids or Nina...the girls and I were just in the house being bums! LOL At about 4 I got a call from Nina letting me know that date night was changed and instead her and I would be going on a dinner date with the kiddos! Sounded good to me, so we got ready and headed out.

We went over to Sharkys and had a great dinner.  SJ was a little pissy but eventually that wore off.  The kids played and laughed and then we did a little shopping.  We hit up TJ Maxx but after walking around for about a half hour and putting all kinds of crap in our carts, we walked out empty handed and headed over to Bahama Bucks again!

We had a good time enjoying some desert and then headed home to call it a night!  SJ decided to spend the night and I spent my time downloading new books on the kindle!

The lights were out at our house by 10:30! LOL

By 3 am I had to text Nina to let her know SJ wanted to go home.  He started waking up at 1am, and I would sooth him back to sleep but about every 20 minutes he would cry again.  I thought he was having nightmares, so I just laid down with him, but it didn't work and by 3, I gave up.  Nina came right over for her baby and we all fell back to sleep!

We woke up and got ready for church.  We headed over to the 10am service and it was great.

They introduced our new church pastor and his wife at toays service and they seem like great people!! I'm excited about them.

Pastor Kerry also started a new series called Barriers and Bridges

Church Notes:

Part 1 of Series: Burning Bridges - Destroying Harmful habit patterns and Experiencing Real Change
Barriers - are destructive hurts and habit patterns that are harmful to us and our relationships.
Bridges - Life-giving habit patterns that bring healing and take us to our divine destiny

What do I need restoration from?: Overworking, Anger, Rage, Bitterness, Overeating, Overspending, Fear, Anxiety, Sexual Addiction, Grief, Gambling, Alchohol, Drugs, Guilt, Perfectionism, Eating Disorders, Insecurity, Body Image Issues, Lying, Self Harm, etc. (many of these things apply to me)

8 Principles for Restoration:
1) Blessed are the poor in spirit, for thiers is the kingdom of heaven
2) Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted
3) Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth
4) Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled
5) Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy
6) Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God
7) Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God
8) Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven

We focused on the first Principle n service:
"Poor in spirit" = Those who humbly admit their brokenness and powerlessness

Restoration Step 1:
I humbly admit my powerlessness to change myself and control everything.  In my brokenness I humbly admit my need for God and others.

LET GO!!

We try to build a bridge of control but the more we do the bigger our barriers become.  Satan tempts us by having us doubt God's word! Grace is the power to change.

Jesus Christ is our safety net - is we let go of our control - he will catch us and give us the power to change.
I need to have humility and let me brokenness lead me!

"Now you are no longer strangers to God and foreigners to heaven, but you are members for God's very own family, citizens of God's country, and you belong in God's household with every other Christian.  What a foundation you stand on now; the apostles and the prophets; and the cornerstone of the building is Jesus Christ Himself!!  We who believe are carefully joined together with Christ as parts of a beautiful, constantly growing temple for God.  And you also are joined with Him and with each other by the spirit and are part of this dwelling place of God."   Eph 2:19-22

Why try to control other people, or our problems/pains?  The church is our safety net - our point of Grace!!
You need a church family - people around you to encourage  you and who believe in you!!!

After church, the girls and I headed home to relax.  I started a few loads of laundry and got ready.  My friend Vicky and I had plans to go to the movies together.  I hardly get time with my girlfriends so I was pretty excited.  Vicky picked me up in her pimp mommy mini-van and we headed over to the Deerbrook Movie tavern for a brunch time movie.  We watched The Other Woman which was really cute and we shared a great lunch during our movie. We chit chatted and caught up on a few things before I had to get back home.

We took Danny to pick up his car at about 5, and then came straight back home to do nothing! LOL
The kids watched tv, while I did some laundry and then they went outside to play for awhile.  We picked up Little Ceasers for dinner and then made some smores with Amy and Abby!  The girls watched the Radio Disney Music Awards and by 9:00 we were all showered and ready for bed!

It wasn't an eventful weekend but it was nice and I am one lucky woman to be surrounded by a hard working man, two beautiful healthy girls, neighbors and friends that I love like family and all our needs met!

I can't complain!

This upcoming week seems like it will be a tad busy.  We have rank graduation ceremony on Monday night, Makaila has youth night at church on Wed, Tutoring on Tuesday, a Band event on Saturday, and my dad's birthday is coming up!

Have a great week!! Love you!!

Trip Cut short

April 23, 2014

So I flew out Monday morning to Atlanta - drove to Alpharetta, and checked into my hotel and headed over to the office.  I worked until 6 pm, and I was done.  My audit was complete and my trip could be over! LOL

Most everything I needed to review was done before my trip and they had only a few questions I was able to answer right away...and so I was good to go.  I called our company travel agency and booked a flight back for Tuesday afternoon.

I walked around the local mall for awhile and then had a great dinner alone at Bahama Breeze! LOL

I had a very yummy drink and some chicken tortillas soup (My favorite), and a chicken pasta and went back to my hotel stuffed!

I showered and stayed up way too late watching crap tv!

In the morning I packed everything back up, checked out of the hotel and then headed back to the office for a few hours.  I made sure all the audit stuff was wrapped up and headed to the airport.  I was really early - but that's okay.  Better safe than sorry!

I got a couple magazines to entertain me!

I landed back in Houston at about 6:30 - got my luggage and drove home and was there by 7:10!!

The girls and I ate dinner and then headed to karate class! We came home, showered and went to bed.  Issy missed me and decided she needed to sleep with me! (I didn't mind - actually to be honest I invited both the girls to sleep with me and only Issy took the bait! I missed my babies!)

Thanks to Nina for having the girls over to spend the night on Monday night.  I love love love how my neighbors are like family.  Sometimes even better than family!! More reliable at least in this case!!! I can always count on Nina to come to the rescue for us!! I love you Neener Beener - thanks again for taking care of my girlies!!!

Hope you guys have a great week.  We have color belt testing again this weekend so the rest of our week will consist of Staar Testing for Makaila, and karate classes for all three of us every evening!

Easter Weekend Rewind

April 20, 2014

Friday I came to work and the office was dead.  We were having issues with our phones and our server kept going out, the internet was not working...it was the pits!!

I was doing most of my work and e-mail correspondence from my phone.  I left to lunch to go check on some stuff I still needed for Makaila's Easter Basket - and had no luck.  I ended up meeting Danny and Isabella at Van Loc for lunch and it was super yummy!

After lunch I called it a day and decided that I would work from my phone for the rest of my day adn check my emails because the office was still having issues.

I went to my sisters job (Sam sold some Scentsy stuff for me this week - so I needed to come square away her ordered and get that party closed and submitted).  I spent some time there selling a few more things and totaling orders out and all that good stuff.  She did way more than I thought she would.  She ended up having $500 in sales!! She earned over $75 in free Scentsy product and then also was eligible for 3 half price items!!

One I finished up there I headed over to Poparazzi Popcorn to pick up an order for the shower and then headed to Ernie and Sarah's to start the party set up.  We worked on putting up the party tents, tables and chairs, setting up the dessert tables, the entry signs, the banners, the chain links, the parting bags, the chicken cooked and shredded, and just about anything we can leave done for tomorrow. We wrapped up there at about 9:30 and I headed home.  Makaila had a baby sitting gig with the Tolley boys so I was needing to get home to check up on them and make sure everything was going ok.  She was getting done when I got home, and begging to go to Ceci's because she worked a deal with Victoria to have her take Alec and her to the Galleria in the Morning to see this blogger she is obsessed with Bethany Mota.

Her daddy took her over there and I went to bed! I was tired!!

In the morning I woke up the clean up a bit, then made some cookies for the shower....they turned out super cute!

Once the cookies were done, I took Isabella to her karate class.  She received her second stripe!! Woohoooo!!!

We packed up our stuff and headed back over to Ernie's to decorate.  We put up all the party decor, adn set up the tables and started cutting up veggies, and at 2 I finally headed home to get ready!!

Everything looked great

The party went well, but I was a little pissy about Karena's behavior and blatant disrespect...but I should have expected it. She even made a snarky comment about what I was wearing - I guess she didn't like it - but Makaila disagreed and thought I looked cute enough to take a picture with her.  LOL (Thisis a rarity - cause most of the time I am just not cool enough or just plain embarrasing!)

I ended up leaving in the evening and going to buy the last of what I needed for my girls Easter baskets.

They are fully aware of the fact that there is no Easter Bunny.  Mommy and Daddy give them baskets - but the real reason we celebrate Easter is because of his resurrection!  I stopped at a few stores and then headed home to make baskets.

I ended up with way more stuff for their baskets than I thought I had.  I try to give them all the things they need...like summer clothes, undies, socks, practical things.

I stuffed both of their baskets and then proceeded to make candy filled bunnies for the kids for Easter Sunday.  Later at about 9:30 Danny called to tell me he had a few drinks and wanted me to come pick him up and be safe.  I love that he is man enough to do that and so I loaded my happy butt up in sweats and a  t-shirt to go get him.  He had a cousin in from Mexico that they were hanging out and drinking with so we ended up hanging out together until 2 am.  His cousin Tabo has a grandaughter who is freakin adorable.  I wanted to keep her!!!

We had a good time and then came home to get a couple hours of sleep until church service.
In the morning I woke up and we all got ready for church.  It was a nice service.

Church Notes:

* Let go of your guilt - Easter is a time to celebrate forgiveness.
* When Jesus died on the cross - eh shed his blood for our sins and it became a river of forgiveness.
* Sometimes, things don't turn out as planned - bridges can have a weak structure and crumble.
* We have all experienced a broken dream or relationship - but Easter is a bridge of restoration.  Things can get better.
* If your looking out and only see a barrier - then know that Jesus rose again and that barrier can change.
* God can take your biggest barriers and make them a bridge.  He can transform your heartache to healing!
Take your pain and make it your purpose.
* Stop trying to save yourself through religion and instead focus on relationship.  Open your heart to God.  Accept his forgiveness, his love and his grace!!!

Jesus is the resurrection! He is the life!!!  Do not fear death - fear a wasted life!!!

After church we took Issy over to the wooded area in front of our church for the Egg Hunt.  We ran into Misty and Cole and they hunted for eggs together.  They looked adorable!  (Just like Makaila and Cory did when they were that little)  We got some great pics of them before heading home!  Issy filled her basket and two more bags with eggs!!! It was most definitely a Texas Sized Egg Hunt!!

Once we finished up with the egg hunt at church we headed home to the girls baskets.  They opened everything up and both were pretty pleased!!

We went to Cracker Barrel for a family brunch and stuffed our faces!  It was delicious.  Then we came home to load up and head back over to Ernie and Sarah's to enjoy the beautiful weather.

We had nothing planned but to come back over and tear down and clean up form the party - but it ended up being a fantastic day.  We played with the kids, the adults and youngins played a long game of kick ball, we made an impromptu egg hunt and everyone had a great time.

If you can't tell the younings got smoked by the old guys!! LOL  But don't worry - they old guys were hurting that night!! LOL

Once it got dark, we all worked together to tear down tents and put up tables and clean up and then headed home.  We got showered and the kids went to bed.  I on the other hand stayed up to pack...I am flying out to Georgia for the week for work! LOL  Nothing like some last minute packing at 11 pm when you have to be at the airport by 6am! LOL

Have a great week!! Love ya!!!!!
