November 2017 Recap

July 25, 2018

SO THIS HAPPENED ON NOVEMBER 1st!!!!!!!

OUR HOUSTON ASTROS WON THIER FIRST FRANCHISE WORLD SERIES!!!!

Talk about Exciting!  And yes - you already know...I left our house at the top of the 9th to drive to the New Caney Academy and get in line for my WORLD SERIES GEAR!!!!!

I logged into my phone and watched the celebration there, the Correa proposal, George Springer being named MVP....all of it!  I cried tears of joy!  I bought way more than I should have...and I got home at 2:30 in the morning to sleep two hours and go to work at 5!!  It was worth it and I'd do it all over again!  I am SO proud of this team!  They played with heart.  They were so deserving and that brought a much needed victory to this city!!!

This lifelong fan has been a part of franchise history.  I was with the Astros in 2005 for that World Series and stuck with them throughout!  I can't say that the build up years were my favorite or that I kept up with all the changes in between.....but I am I die hard Astros fan for life and this was a moment I will never forget!  I know - I probably sound ridiculous, since I didn't play in it, or know anyone personally from the team - but the Astros brought this city joy in a time of trials and tribulations and I love them!!! Give me my moment dangit!

It took a couple days to recover from that high - and then we were right back at it.....the celebration parade was in town and we were ready!  The girls got to my job at about 9 am and sat out on the street in their front row spot - just ready to celebrate and cheer and love on our Houston Astros!!

We were screaming and cheering and loving every minute of it!  It was awesome!!  Memories made for sure!!

WAY TO GO ASTROS!!

I was going to say that the Astros winning the World Series was all that mattered in November - but then I looked through my pictures and decided ----that was a lie!

We had lots of great stuff going on in November.

Like this for example...I attended a Cricut crafting conference with Ceci and Angel...and it was the bomb.  It was to introduce the new Maker machine and lot of craft ideas and workshops.....we had fun!!  I love that I share my love for crafting with these two ladies!

Nutcracker Market - how could I skip that?!?!?!  It is a November tradition!  For a few years now I have been attending this event with Melissa and I love it.  The stuff is mostly all the same and my kids have outgrown most of the things, but I still love to make a girls day of it!  I enjoy our breakfast routine of meeting at the Black Walnut Café, enjoying mimosa's and then spending the day booth from booth, shopping, drinking, laughing, and collecting ideas!  This year did not disappoint.  Once we are shopped out - usually 8-10 hours later - we wrap things up with Dinner in the River Oaks shopping area an call it a day!  I love Nutcracker Market traditions!!

I wanted to capture the memory of Makaila and I attending the UH Clear Lake open house event.  It was a great experience to share with my baby!  We brought home lots of freebies, learned about their opportunities and classes, and degree plans!  While she doesn't have much of an interest in attending there just yet or ever maybe....I love these little moments that I get to share with my big girl!

We celebrated Tio Ernie's 50th birthday this year!!

Izzy and Brianna attending the Glow Party at church and loved every minute of it!!

This is kinda random- but Makaila decided to give blood at school to receive a red scroll to wear at graduation...and things didn't go so smooth.  They liked her so much they tried to do a platelets draw which she did not agree too, then they poked her four separate times and long story short - she was still sporting these bruises three weeks later...talk about scary!  She decided she would not be doing that again - can you blame her!?!?

We were not hosting anything for Thanksgiving this year - so I got out the Christmas decorations early...I love Christmas!!!

During Thanksgiving week - we had the complete pleasure of attending our very first WWE Smackdown event here in Houston!  Isabella was in Heaven!  She even made signs to take in hopes of appearing on TV - or better yet an episode of Divas!!

My goodness - the joy coming off this child was immeasurable!!  She was SO freaking excited and happy!!I loved her reaction and excitement!  It was contagious.

See what I mean - even Tio Jose was feeling the excitement!!

If I could figure out how to load a video to this thing (I'm technology challenged) I would show you how she danced in the aisles, was screaming at the top of her lungs, and waving her signs around.  I mean it - she was loving every single second of this thing.  She knew everyone's theme songs, she was so immersed in this thing it was adorable!!!  I am SO grateful I have these pictures and we were able to do this.  I know WWE isn't my thing - but I will do this over and over and over to see this kind of joy on my babies face!!  It was worth every penny, every line, everything!!

Ok - so once the event was over Tio Jose got the great idea of going to the parking garage where the trucks were parked in hopes of seeing of the wrestlers!!  Thank you Jesus for Tio Jose and his bright ideas...

He was right - some of the wrestlers came out to meet the fans and sign stuff!!  She got pictures with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.  Seriously - Charlotte's face touched hers!!

OK - there were tears people.  This little ten year old girl who loves Wrestling and loves the Divas, cried tears of joy and disbelief!!  Her dreams were coming true and the excitement was uncontainable!!!

The momma's and Tia's had a lot of fun too...can you tell?!?

So the Disney movie COCO came out and Isabella was bugging and bugging about going to see this!  I am so glad she didn't give up.  We went to see it and LOVED IT!!  It was so good!  It captured the essence of our culture, it was heartfelt, and loving, with suspense and a plot twist....I can say it is one of my Disney Favorites.  I highly recommend it!!!  We have since seen it over a dozen times since!!

My friends gathered to go watch one of Cory's final football games! It was so fun to see them all together, to be in the stands cheering like old times.  I love my circle of friends.  I wish we could get together more often.  Life makes that hard - but boy do I love when fate and effort makes it happen!  I love these memories and hope that when you girls grow up and are my age that you have a circle of friends that you can share moments like this with too!  I know life is hard sometimes so having a support system and people you love, and cheerleaders in your corner are a must in life.  Don't be a recluse, or avoid relationship - NO embrace differences of opinions, learn from people, grow with them, risk disappointment....one day you will be my age and realize that those people are your family too!  These ladies are my chosen sisters and I love reunion moments like this!!  To be in the football stands cheering on our kids and our friends kids while they go through the stages of life we shared together----that my friends is love!!

I worked on a few craft projects through the month and got a jump start on my Christmas gift making.  This Backpack was for Tia Sylvia and I loved how it came out...the lazy Susanne was made for mom and dad - I loved how it turned out too!

Makaila came home with this bad boy and it kicked off the water works once again .  Let me warn you now.....there are a lot of water works over the next few months of recaps.  Senior year for me as a student was exhilarating, and exciting and filled with joy...as a mom of a Senior it was bittersweet.  it was scary, hopeful, and bleak.  I was filled with worry, excitement, nerves, joy and overwhelming pride!! This picture is beautiful, and I got misty eyed again doing this recap and coming across this picture because in it I see a beautiful smart, God fearing, loving, determined, and driven woman!!A woman!!!  You will always be my baby - but in this I see a woman and I could not be more proud of who you are!!

So Thanksgiving came and went with no excitement, no black Friday shopping and a home Christmas ready!  Now the week after Thanksgiving - Danny and I went on a trip to Vegas.  It was just him and I and let me tell you - it was the best trip we have ever taken together.  I will complain sometimes that I hate we can't go anywhere alone, and then you will hear me rejoice that it's more fun to travel with more people, and once many many years ago, he and I went to Vegas alone and it was just awkward...but not this time.  This time, we were in a good place, on solid ground, financially stable, and just plain happy.  We have been to Vegas maybe 15 -20 times by now and while it doesn't top my list of places to go - this trip was in my highest ranked trips ever!  We had so much fun together.  We laughed and talked and loved.  We explored like never before. Our trip started off with a mile long walk to get to Roberto's and it was SO worth it....so much so that we went there two more times during this trip!

Our room and view were phenomenal.  The Planet Hollywood put us up in a beautiful suite overlooking the water show at Bellagio....we were fancy!

For all the trips we have had to Las Vegas we have never really left the strip areas.  This time we rented a car and went exploring!  We left with the intention of renting a car and driving to the Grand Canyon.  The Uber driver that picked us up to take us to the car rental location was so talkative and told us that we should go to the Valley of Fire instead and hit the Hoover dam too - that we could knock out both in half the time because the drive to the Grand Canyon was going to be about 3 - 4 hours....so we did just that!  I am so glad we did - because it was gorgeous.  Like seriously.  One of those places that is so beautiful and so captivating - that you almost feel and see God's hands of creation.  His beauty and His goodness.  No, really....like this place was almost unreal it was so beautiful and perfect.....my pictures do not do justice!!!

Danny and I hiked through the valleys for about an hour and a half and read the signs., toured the visitors center and all that good stuff,  we talked about coming back to show the girls next time as a family.
We went through the entire park and then through the lake side until we reached the Hoover damn....and did the damn tour.  Just kidding - we just explored for a bit and took some cute pictures and then headed back to Vegas....but I was so freaking happy and excited to have had this new experience.

On our way back into town we got a flat tire and that sucked!  But we didn't let it ruin our day and we kept on keeping on.  This trip was maybe our most costly in that we lost our asses in the casinos....but it still will go down as one of my favorite Vegas trips because it was time with Danny, we were happy, we did things we had never done and I was just in a really good place!  We all need that sometimes and this will be a great memory of a good time for us!

Back at home the girls were consumed with school stuff...Makaila toured UH with her friends and sent me pictures! Izzy was fully immersed in Dance stuff an gearing up for Winter recital!

Ladies - seriously......you have no idea how blessed we are as people and as a family.  I am so grateful for you two.  You are my heart.  You are my joy, you are my frustration, you are my breathe.  Everything about you matters to me.  But nothing you do can make me love you any less.  You don't have to be perfect, you don't have to put on a show, or strive to please people.  You just have to be respectful, grateful and hopefully love God!!  That love of God has been the best thing for me in my life and I pray that I have lead you in that by example....when your lost or broken or fearful....He is the answer.  Your daddy and I will always be here for you...but God is with you always!  We would go to the ends of the earth for you and  do anything to keep you safe but God loves you more than we do if you can understand that.
