Happy Veteran's Day & Birthday Tio Ernie

November 11, 2014

This morning I stay home a little later than usual because I wanted to attend the Veterans day program at Issy's school.  She invited Tio Ernie to be her special guest and she was super excited.  I am so grateful that he is doing this with her just like he did with Makaila when she was younger.  The girls love their Tio Ernie and are so proud of him.  He showed up at 7:30 in his uniform and Issy was beyond excited.  She was up early that morning wearing her red white and blue ...ready to go!!

We took a few pics on the porch then headed off to school.  We sang Tio Ernie Happy Birthday in the car! LOL

Issy walked into the school and we sat in the parking lot to wait for them to finish the morning routines.

We walked in and headed for the cafeteria for the assembly.  Ernie was on the only person in his entire uniform...it was so nice! The kids all lined in and the program began.  They sang songs to the veteran's and read the declaration and showed them some great thanks for their hard work and service!

After the program, they were invited to join their special guests in the library for a breakfast. Before they left to the library, Tio Ernie gave her one of his service medals.  She was super syked when she realized it was hers to keep.

It melted my heart because several years ago he made the same kind gesture to Makaila when he came to her Veteran's Day program, and she keeps that gold medal in a safe place...and aso will Issy!!   She was super happy...we took some pics, they had a taco and then headed out.  He walked her back to class and we headed out.  We treated the birthday boy and Sarah to breakfast afterwards too.

I am so grateful for Ernie and all the Veterans out there that give of their lives to serve and protect our country!  For the influence they have on our youth and the impact in our tomorrows.
