Sulfur Spring Weekend Rewind

November 15, 2015

After my return from San Francisco it was a  whirwind of laundry, cleaning house, karate, dance, karate, work, laundry, and more karate.  Thursday night we signed Makaila up for a tournament in Sulfur Springs Texas.
Friday night however was special.  I had several months back bought tickets for the girls and I to go see Third Day.  It actually turned into a big group and so Friday night Rose and Ernestina showed up, followed by Ceci, Victoria, Karena, Ava, Elaine and us.  We headed out for the drive over to Cypress in afternoon traffic.  Made a pit stop at Chick-Fil-A and made it with plenty of time to find our seats and relax before the concert started.  It was fantastic.  I loved every second of it.  The songs we great, the company was great...I was happy and am always happy to spend time like this with our girls not just having fun, but worshiping and giving thanks to God for all that is in our lives..the health, the people, the fun, the blessings....

We made it back home at midnight and the morning came real quick.  By 4:30 I was back up loading up the car and heading out on the road to Sulfur Springs.  We made it to the competition location by about 10:30 am, and then did the waiting game while we cheered on fellow schoolmates in their rings.  Finally at about 1:30 Makaila's ring was called and it was on!!

There were 9 girls in her rings, so the points were high.  She was nervous because there was 4 recommended black belts in her ring.  Also this was her first time competing with this form!  She did fantastic.  Twenty minutes into her competition my baby had sinched the First Place title in Forms!!! We were super excited!!
Next up Sparring....of course the nerves were high and the tension was on...but she ended up facing three matches in her sparring rounds and she kicked butt in all three.....she locked in her 1st place title in Sparring too!! We were super super excited and all she had left was combat sparring...
Again - fight after fight and she kicked butt.  We left that place a few hours later with three first place metals!! She took first in every division she competed in!! A trip well worth it!! We were all super excited.
She made us wait around almost an extra hour so take pictures with master Henderson and show him her metals!!

Afterwards we drove over to Paris, Texas becuase why not.  We were only an hour away...and lifes too short not to visit Paris! LOL

It was a cute little town filled with Victorian homes, beautiful churches and a Texas style Eiffel tower!!

We took tons and tons of pictures at the eiffel tower and at the Veterans Memorial they had right next to it.  It was beautiful.

After we took pictures there we headed out and drove over to Dallas for the evening.  On the way we saw a Braum's and of course stopped for some ice cream!! YUMMY!!

I had to take a picture of our pissy driver. I said...Dang...why do you look so mad...he said I don't...this is just my face...he looks mad to me...whatcha think?

We made it to Dallas that evening and checked into our hotel, and relaxed for a bit.  Then we went over to the hotel across the street because the Colon's were there for a dance things Emma had going on.  Izzy stayed with Alexis and Emma while we headed out for dinner with Jose and Lucas! We ended up at a Pizza joint down the road and the food was delicious! We all ate and then right before we headed out Lucas threw up.  He wasn't feeling good obviously, and so we headed back to meet the girls.  I got there in time to see a free style dance party taking place...it was so cute!  We headed back to our hotel and I took a shower and got ready for bed.  Danny left to have a drink with Jose, and we all fell asleep.  In the morning we woke up and headed out.  We stopped for something to eat at Sam's in Fairfield.  It was yummy.  I had never eaten there before!

We stopped at my parents for a little while and I took a quick nap.  Once I woke up we headed out and made it back home by about 7pm.  I did a couple loads of laundry and got ready for the coming week.

I was a successful trip and a great weekend filled with memory making, friends, good food, and love.  Can't beat it!!
